2026 Call for Topics

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Monday, August 18, 2025

Requirements & Guidance

We are seeking utility professionals willing to share their projects, initiatives and innovations with industry peers at IUCX 2026. Guidance for submitting Your Call for Topics and the form are located below.

Please keep in mind: Conference Workshops, Deep Dives and other presentations showcase utilities.

Our attendees want to hear utility stories. Perhaps some topics can be co-presented with industry partners, but ideally utilities take the starring role and partners the supporting. Sponsor Solutions, on the other hand, allow each year’s Platinum and Gold sponsors to spotlight success stories in their deployment pipeline and innovative products/services. We believe utilities are integral to telling Conference Workshop and Deep Dives stories, while Sponsor Solutions can be presented with or without utility client(s).

    1. Submit a complete topic proposal. Incomplete submissions may not be reviewed as thoroughly.
      A complete submission includes:

      • Topic

      • Title

      • Suggested Education Pillar track

      • Speaker(s) and full contact information

      • Descriptive abstract (summary)

      • Learning objectives

    2. Ensure your submission is original (not presented last year or at other major conferences; if submitted last year, your submission represents chapter 2 of your story).

    3. Duplicate topics from different submitters may be consolidated into a single session or series.

    4. For assistance, contact Tami Teer at 903-893-3214.

    5. Our writer can help shape your abstract and learning objectives after an initial conversation.

  • IUCX accepts three types of submissions:

    1. Workshops
Conference Workshops highlight utility case studies, best practices, and innovations. These sessions typically include 1–2 speakers, follow a traditional presentation format, and run for 50 minutes. Utilities should lead these presentations. While vendor co-presenters may be included, the utility voice should remain primary.

    2. Deep Dives
Deep Dive sessions are full-day, in-depth explorations of complex or trending topics, featuring multiple speakers and interactive discussion. These sessions are facilitated rather than lecture-style, encouraging audience participation, panels, and collaboration. All Deep Dive topics must align with an IUCX Education Pillar.

    3. Media Topics (YouTube, Podcasts, Social Media, Webinars)
Have a story to tell outside the Conference? We welcome engaging, forward-thinking topics for digital platforms throughout the year. These can be short-form stories, interviews, or behind-the-scenes looks at industry innovation. Media topics should also align with an IUCX Education Pillar.

    1. The Primary Contact is the first point of communication for the submission. This may be a utility or vendor contact.

    2. Complete Primary Contact info is required: name, position, organization, email and phone number.

    3. Vendors may submit on behalf of a utility. Regardless, all communication will go to the listed Primary Contact.

    4. The Primary Contact can coordinate multiple speakers but will be responsible for updates.

  • Short (1-5 words) to clearly convey the focus.

Example: "CIS Implementation," "Field Safety," "Bill Reformat"

    1. 10 words or fewer, formatted for mobile viewing.

    2. Avoid product or company names in the title.

    1. Up to 1000 characters, ideally one descriptive paragraph.

    2. Avoid bullet points; write in complete sentences.

    3. State any special A/V or technical requirements here.

    1. 2 to 3 learning objectives, under 15 words each.

    2. Total word count should be under 50 words.

    1. Include complete contact info.

    2. Abstracts with utility presenters are prioritized.

    3. If vendor is a co-presenter, indicate speaking time percentages.

    4. For panel submissions, list proposed moderator in Summary.
