A Planning Committee member for four years, Sean Dawson of Austin Energy is assigned to the Field Services Conference Workshop track and the Field Services/ Revenue Protection Deep Dives category.
“I enjoy walking the walk at Austin Energy on behalf of IUCX, encouraging first timers to attend and supporting presenters to represent our company well.” With three supervisors as direct reports and 21 employees across two shifts, Sean understands firsthand the staffing, equipment, supplies and customer-first ethos that must be closely coordinated to maintain an efficient, safe and highly productive work group. He brings that knowledge and resourcefulness to his IUCX assignments. “I most enjoy the camaraderie of spending time with other members of utilities and seeing the personal and professional development of my peers.”
“I manage the Field Services team within the Revenue Measurement & Control Division of Austin Energy. We connect and disconnect electric and water services and complete simple meter investigations on behalf of the customer. I’m proud of the fact that for over 36 consecutive months, my team has connected every single customer on the day requested. There was not a single customer during that time who did not have power or water who requested it. Here’s to the next 36 and beyond! Sean and his wife are parents to a 10-year-old daughter, and their family includes a 15-year-old tuxedo cat named Charlie and a two-year-old German Shepherd/Great Dane named Lady. Though he lives in Texas, Sean closely follows his favorite sports teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. Last December, the family took a trip to Disney World where his daughter rode the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as many times as humanly possible, according to Sean. “I’m proud to be the most important person in my daughter’s life,” he said, “I know she achieved that record because I was in the mine cart beside her!”
